Hi again Betty-
Did you mean to say that there was an Inventory for a John Blalock in 1796 in Wilkes Co., Georgia????? Not NC?!
MY John Blalock may have been married to a Susannah Lewis, the sister of William Terrel Lewis. I have no hard proof just a lot of circumstance.
MY John Blalock in found in the deeds below for Albemarle Co. I always thought he was the son oh John Blalock who died in 1745 in LOuisa Co (????) Do you think differently?
1768 Albemarle Co DB 4:510
David Lewis to Obadiah Britt, 200 acres adj. Wm. Terrell Lewis, Richard Bennett (father of Micajah Bennett who md. John Blalock's dtr.), John Hargiss, John Blalock and Hector McAllister.
1772 Albemarle Co DB 6:76
Joel Lewis of Spotsylvania Co. to John Blalock of Albemarle, 250 acres in Albemarle Co. on Meadow Creek adj. Abraham Lewis, David Lewis and Joel Terrell.
1773 Albemarle Co DB 6:336 Joel Lewis of Albemarle Co. to Micajah Bennett (sil of John Blalock), 100 acres on Meadow Creek adj. Bennett's own line.
1778 Albemarle Co. DB 7:340 John Blalock AND Micajah Bennett of Albemarle Co., land on Meadow Creek to John Alphin. Witnessed by Russell Jones and Reuben Rowland (John Blalock's sil)
And then finally in Newberry Co., SC where John Blalock wrote his will in 1790which named Reuben Rowland and children (incl. a son named John B. Rowland) AND Micajah Bennett and one son (named John B. Bennett) as legatees. This will was witnessed by Reuben Rowland's son in law, Dr. John H. Bush and this is my line.
1785 Newberry Co., SC DB A:95
John Blalock late of North State (ie. North Carolina) but now of Newberry Co. purchases 100 acres on Indian Creek from James Shearer.
Also Betty- A will for Theodocia Jennings was dated 1725 and proven in 1726 in Hanover Co (WB 1:637). It named as legatees:
Sarah Dabney (nee Jennings, now w/o Cornelius Dabney, Jr.)
Rebecca Hudson (goddtr)
Elizabeth Brown
Nicholas Gentry
Thomas harris
Executor: trusty friend John Blalock
I think this may be my John Blalock's father. I also descend from this Cornelius Dabney, NicholasGentry and the Harris family.
Can you shed any light on this info for me, please???Thanks,
Linda
