My wife's maternal grandmother was a Blakney from Barnesville, New Brunswick. I looked at the data I have and there was one Edna Blakney born in 1882. There is more of the family, but I do not have all of the data. I can tell you that the Blakley family came to Edgefield Co.,SC in 1769 from England. As loyalist they arrived in Halifax,NS in 1784.
Two brothers,Chambers and David Blakley. The surname was changed to Blakney after arriving in N.S. Hope this can help you.
