Horatio (John?) Blakeslee, Mississippi River Pilot

In the 1860 census of Quincy Illinois, one may find my GGG-Grandfather, Horatio Blakeslee, listed, along with his wife Catherine (nee Eagle, of Ohio) and daughter Emma H. Blakeslee.

He would have been born in the state of NY in about 1826. As Emma's death certificate has his given name as John, I imagine the name 'Horatio' might have been an affectation.

I have been unable to find any leads for Horatio/John's parents, nor locate Catherine Eagle's kin. If anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,

Derek
