Batavia (Illinois) Herald, May 24, 1906 Death of H. Blakeslee Old Resident of Batavia, Found Dead in Bed - Aged 74 Years. 50 Years Resident of Batavia Monday, May 21, Harvey Blakeslee, of North Van Buren St., was taken ill, with stomach difficulty. A physician was called, and prescribed for him. He ate heartily and kep around, that day as usual, but was sick Monday night again, with hemorages of the stomach. Tuesday Morning, May 22, 1906, he as found ded in his bed. The proper authorities were called, Justice Geo. R. Barr, acting as Deputy Coroner, held an inquest, and the folowing named jury returned the following vertict: "We, the Jury, find tha Harvey Blakeslee came to his death from natural causes: R.C. Hollister, E.S. McLean E.S. Smith, H. Walt, D.A. Martin Tuesday, May 22, 1906. Deceased was born in New York State. He wa about 74 years of age. For about 50 years he has been a resident of Batavia. His wife was deceased, but he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Bird and Miss Ida Blakeslee, two sons, Edward of Michigan and Fred of Utica, also a sister of Utica, Ill. Funeral at his late home, Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Burial at East Batavia Cemetery. ------ This newspaper item is posted as a courtesy.
