Greetings from Guilford, CT

I have just learned I may descend directly from Hannah Potter and hope to link this line to Sarah Taylor who married Jonathan Parmelee 1728 at Litchfield.

May I enter late to offer my 2cents on verifying the disputed reference to Guilford and New Haven. It is recorded history that the first settlers who landed at "Fair Haven" in 1635, were many of the same who also founded Guilford in 1639. For me, this is local history and verifiable.

Vital records begin after the date of incorporation of New England towns, therefore, 1639 would be the earliest year any date would be verifiable at Guilford. Prior to this, the records at New Haven would record vitals, but no earlier than 1635. Before 1635, there was no settlement.

I would appreciate communication from anyone of this line who is willing to share genealogy with me regarding the connection among Potter/Taylor/Parmelee. Much of this should be right under my nose here at Guilford, except for the generations that migrated to Woodbury and Litchfield.
