I am also descended from Capt John Blakeney. John Oscar's Blakeney book(1928) lists James Madison as Captain of Co K, 47th Ark Cav., McCrae's Brigade from 1863-65. He had moved from S>C> to AL to AR where he farmed and operated a mill and cotton gin.
He died and was buried in OR but no details given.
