My line: John Blakely (1718 – 1798) m. Rachel (Orr) (1725 – 1814) Thomas Blakely (1755 – 1826) m. Margaret (McGaffey) ( ?? – 1836) Elizabeth Ann Blakely (1788 – 1874) m. James Bryson (1781 – 1831) It is well documented that, well after her husband's death, Elizabeth Ann Bryson and many of her 14 children left South Carolina sometime after 1851 and traveled by wagon to Lee County, MS, (Pontotoc? Itawamba? Providence?) It would seem that these "children" would have been married adults at this time. Her eldest son, William, is my ancestor and I know he remained in S. The other children are listed below, though I don't know how many of them migrated to MS. Thomas (b. 1807) m. Marthan Milam Samuel (b. 1809) m. Jane Milam; Margaret Crockett James (b. 1811) m. Mary Bryson Margaret (b. 1813) m. Alfred O'Shields Henry (b. 1815) Hampton (b. 1818) m. Nancy Milam; Sarah Fleming Mary (Polly) (b. 1823) Eliza (b. 1827) m. William Caldwell Emily (b. 1827) m. Matthew Bryson Presley (b. 1828) Porter (b. 1828) m. Sallie Boyd Elizabeth Ann (died young) John (b. 1831) m. Louisa Scott MY QUESTION: Are there perhaps descendants of this family who can tell me WHY Elizabeth Ann resettled in Mississippi? And, of course, if anyone has information on any others in my line (above), I’d be delighted to receive it.
