There may be no connection, but we have to check on remote possibilites, too, right? My g-grandfather, Josiah Blackman Blakely, was a Presbyterian minister who served as missionary in China from 1874-1880. My grandfather and his two siblings were born in China, including his sister, Clara Lucetta Blakely b 03 Nov 1877. This would make her only 13 when the letter you refer to,was written - if she is the right Clara. In 1900, Josiah and family were living in Neenah, Winnebago Co, WI, which is the county due north of Dodge county. Josiah was born 13 Apr 1846 in Otego NY, and came with his family to Neenah WI in 1855. Josiah's father is David Blakely, born in Otsego (not a misspelling, there really are two towns - Otego and Otsego)Oct 26 1813. I know very little about David, but he could have had a brother whose descendants are the ones you speak of. If you see anything that you would like to pursue further, let me know. I can't seem to find any of Clara's descendants or of her brother Clement, either. Only of my grandfather, Albert b 20 May 1879 in China. It was the name Blakely and the fact that he was a Presbyterian minister that caught my eye. Donna B Cross Arizona Notify Administrator about this message?
