Families of Ancient New Haven by Donald Lines Jacobus, 1923 shows James BLAKELY, baptized 26 October, 1760 (records of Roxbury Congregational Church). He married Ruth ROOT 26 Nov. 1786 (Roxbury Cong. Church). His parents were Samuel BLAKESLEE (or Blakesley) and Ruth HURD.

James was the brother of Isaac, my GGG-Grandfather. Isaac settled in Greenville, Greene Co., NY in the 1790's. There were a number of Blakely - Blakeslee families there.
