Hi Ruth,
Thanks - I'll check out your web site. The museum has index cards to all the people they have anything on, including what exists in biographies, histories, etc. in addition to a very extensive obituary section. I'm sure you'll find the short, fat, bright blue book on Page & Fremont county history that I cited. If you have any questions, there is a woman there who also has most everything indexed in her head. I'm pretty sure from the style of writing that my Aunt (Esther Whitehill and daughter-in-law of Samuel) contributed the section on Matthew to the book. She studied genealogy extensively maybe 20-30 years ago. There is a chance her son (my cousin) who lives in Shenandoah has her original records. I'll check when I have the time.
Samuel and his wife Maude (my mother's parents) are also buried in Rose Hill Cemetary, maybe 100 feet east and a little north of Matthew's and the other graves.
I live in Cedar Rapids, IA and just made a hurried trip to Southwest Iowa last week to find out what I could about both my parent's families.
