Thanks for your reply to my posting. My Matthew's wife was Catherine, though I don't know her original surname as they were married in Northern Ireland before coming to Gateshead. His surname was sometimes spelt Blakely as that was the common spelling of our surname in Ireland. Ours appears to have changed to Blakeley when we got a schoolteacher in the family who taught the family to read and write! As you know I am in a One Name Group and would be most grateful for any Blakeley information you might have! We add this to our database and the more information we have, the more likely we can answer members queries! Are you researching your grandfathers Blakely line? If you are, would you like to join our group? We publish a lot of Blakeley information every quarter in or Newsletter, THE BLAKELEY GAZETTE.
