Judy,
I've been looking into the Ohio Blakely's since about 1986.Here is what I know. There were two Samuel Blakely's.One married to Elizabeth Luttrell (that would be Samuel Atcheson Blakely b. 1797) and the other, b. abt. 1780, to Mary Decker. Both of these Samuels wound up in Shelby Co. OH.There is no known relationship.
I hope this straightens out some of the confusion on this forum...
I am curious as to the two Blakely brothers you identified in your posting that came from Dublin. You see Samuel and Mary lived in Franklin Co. Madison Twp until 1830, then moved to Shelby Co.My ancestor (George and Sarah (Chambers) Blakely) and another Blakely family (Thomas and Rosanna) lived there as well (in factall but Rossana are buried in the same cemetery in Madison Twp.This cemetery also contains many Deckers.).I've been searching for years to connect these three (Sam, George and Thomas). Can you help?
(See George Blakely this forum by Lu Ann Staheli-Brobst)
I've quite a bit of info. One thing that is very difficult to sort out is the two Samuel Blakely families in Shelby and Auglaize Counties.Auglaize was created from Shelby. The families were close geographically, but separate.
Would really like to know about those two brothers from Dublin! Thanks!
My source on Samuel (husband of Mary Decker) is History of Shelby Co. Oh: Published by R. Sutton & Co., 1883.
My ancestor, George (above) left from Belfast on the Ship Amiable, arriving Philadelphia, June 1816.
Thanks again!
