THE BLAKELEY ONE NAME STUDY GROUP, a member of The Guild of One Name Studies, is a group of people researching their Blakeley Family History. We cover all variations of the surname-Blackley, Blakeley,Blakely,Blakley, Bleackley, Bleakley etc. We have about 40 members in U/K, Canada, USA, Australia and New Zealand. We publish a Newsletter quarterly to circulate research information. We make no charge as such, but expect a contribution towards the cost of Ink, paper and postage of THE BLAKELEY GAZETTE. Several members have discovered that they are related through this! We have all of the St. Cath's Index Blakeley's 1837-1931 (so far) on database, with another database of other Blakeley records - some 24,000 records in total.

My own research is in Matthew Blakeley of Armagh,(possibly Markethill) and later Gateshead, Co. Durham. His son Thomas was my Grandfather, though he died before I was born. Virtually all of the Blakeley's in Gateshead were part of Matthew's family! There were a lot of them! I am trying to get further back in Northern Ireland, but am finding this more difficult! Any information on Matthew welcome!

e-mail Jim for further information And send him any information on any Blakeley's to be input to our database.(Mainly U/K and Ireland and Australia/ NZ so far,but information on other areas most welcome!
