Southhampton County Oct 5, 1785 Will Bk. 4 Thomas Blake's Will p. 296 In the name of god amen, I Thomas Blake of Southhampton County VA being sick and in low state of health but of sound mind and memory thanks be to God for it have thought proper to dispose of what worldly good I am possessed with in a manner and form following (to wit) after my bedts (debts) and funeral expenses are discharged. Item I give and bequeath to my son Samuel Blake the tract of land he now lives on containing one hundred and forty acres more or less to him and his heirs forever also on half of the griss will one negro names Charles. Item I give and bequeath to my son John Blake(X) the plantation and tract of land he now lives on containing 1000 acres forever also noe negro girl named patience to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Ethelred Blake he is now in possession of containing one one hundred and sixty acres more of less to him and his heirs forever also one feather bed and furniture. Item I give and bequeath to my son James Blake on plantation and tract land wheron he now lives containing 1879 on Hun-dred & eighty) acres to be same or more or less to him and his heirs forever also one feather bed and furniture. Item I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Blake the plantation and tract of land I now live on containing eighty seven acres be the same more or less to him and his heirs forever. I likewise Give to my son Benjamin Blake one negro boy named Jacob to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Ethelred Blake one negro named Charity and her child named Anthony to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son James Blake one negro girl named Criss to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Blake one negro girl named dolly to him and his heir forever. Item My will and desire is that all of the remaining part of my slaves and other estate be it what nature kind soever be equally divided amongst my following sons Joh, Ethelred, James and Benjamin Blake whole and sole executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other will by me before made. As witness my hand and seal this fifth day October 784.
