Charlie, Although I don't recognize any of your Blair ancestors, I, too, have Blair ancestors in the St. Lawrence County area from circa 1864 through at least circa 1876.My earliest Blair ancestor I have been able to identify is Charles Blair (b. abt 1800, d. aft. Aug 1870).I believe his father was Charles Blair (b. abt 1774), probably in Ireland.
I believe my Blair family cross the St. Lawrence River from the Ontario, Canada, area (probably Cornwall).
I have found conflicting information on Charles Blair. My ancestor, John Wallace Blair's, Civil War records state his mother's name was Lydia Colton and his father's name was Charles Blair.Lydia must have died prior to 1867, however, as Charles Blair was then married to Delilah (as evidenced by a deed record).
I believe Charles Blair had a daughter, Mary, who married Lewis Shampine. The elder Charles is living with Lewis and Mary in the 1870 census in Stockholm.
I look forward to sharing information with you.
