The Blair House in Washington got its name after Francis Preston Blair of Virginia bought the home to be in Washington.He founded the Washington Globe.The House is actually called the Blair-Lee house as his daughter married one of the Lee's from Viginia.Francis served on the "kitchen cabinet of President Andrew Jackson.General Lee met with Francis in his home and was asked to lead the union army in the civil war.Francis Preston Jr was a general in the civil war and helped to build the Republican Party.Montgomery Blair was another son of Francis Sr and was appointed by Lincoln to Postmaster General.
