Looking for Anne Siler
Anne,
Have been trying to get this sent, but your Email address doesn't work for me: [email protected] Is this correct??
Hi Anne!
We have continued to use Blair, but added double question marks, simply because she is so identified with the name..But at this stage we don't know what it was or when or where she died.
If Andrew did marry twice, daughter Mary would have to have been from 1st wife - otherwise, she's too old to be Andrew's daughter

NOTES AND COMMENTS:
19 Apr 1749 Frederick Co, MD, Book B-pp75,77
Andrew Blair of the county of Lancaster, State of PA, purchased from Evan Shelby all of the Mountain of Wales land and everything on it-[This was Evan Sr]
Betw the years 1771-74, 1784-86, 1787-1789, Evan Shelby, Jr verses Andrew Blair in the Chancery Courts of MD...However records are so brief it is not clear what the issue concerned...
Sounds kinda like a long standing feud
-----------------------------
THE FIRST THREE GENERATIONS OF THE SHELBY FAMILY IN THE USA, 1927 by Case Knight Shelby is full of errors that were later corrected in 1947 and again in 1955 by the author. Which brings me to the Spring 1991 issue of the BLAIR FAMILY MAGAZINE:Evan Shelby did not marry Catharine Davis-so-Catharine Davis was not a sister of Elizabeth Davis!Evan Shelby married Catherine MORGAN at St. Caron's Church, Tregaron, Cardiganshire, Wales Nov. 1693.The church records include the bapt. of the children born there, but do not include Rees- strong circumstantial evidence indicates he was a son.Evan Jr. is proven as a son.
David Shelby, son of Evan Shelby did not marry Mary Blair as he is proven to have married Elizabeth Balla and Catharine Bell.
---------------------
The first I knew of research having been done on Andrew Blair appared in WESTERN MARYLAND GEN. Quarterly, Vol. 4 Jan 1988 by John H. Stutesman. He shows Andrew Blair's son James, as the oldest, born in 1735, died 1828--according to James Obituary. He then names John Blair as the 2nd son, b. about 1740, died Wash. Co. MD 22 Nov 1799, according to the record made by his widow in her Bible (Brookville Co., OH, Hist. Soc.).John married 1st Matha Davis--1806 two of John's children John Blair & Elizabeth Brotherton, sold their interest in the real estate of David Davis. Thus, John's first wife was Martha Davis.
---------------------
According to an Obit, Andrew's oldest child, James, was born in 1735, died Washington Co MD in 1828. His obit was published 14 Mar 1828, stated that he died in his 93rd year..
[Taken from WESTERN MARYLAND GENEALOGY, Vol 4 Jan 1988, #1, pp 3-6]
-----------------
In Nov of 1754 Rees appears in the Maryland Gazette, stating "he was living in Prince George's Co, near the Connogacheague(sic) and has a stray horse at his plantation."
Then Rees and Mary are buying land again in Cumberland Co PA in July of 1759, then gave this land to their son Evan Shelby in 1760 "for natural love & affection"(probably as a wedding gift-Evan stayed in PA)

Anne don't know if this has helped any!So many questions-so few answers....
