Ed,As you probably know there are a lot of Alexander Blairs. You'll notice some postings from Garnet Johnson also. She and I are cousins working on our branch of Blair. Our Alexander was b. abt 1782-1795 in North Carolina, and migrated to Tennessee in the very early 1800's.His family including Alexander Jr. was born in the Warren Co. to Jackson Co. Tennessee area. They moved to the Polk Co. Missouri area in 1835.Now both Alexander and Alexander Jr. lived the rest of their lives in Polk Co. and are buried there.None of Alexander Sr. grandchildren would have been born early enough to fit your criteria. There are Alexanders down line but obviously to late for you. There is an Alexander F. Blair in the 1870 Federal Census of Mt. Pleasant Twp., Cass Co., Missouri, page 623, dwelling 18.He was b. abt. 1835 in Penn. Those are the only Alexander Blair families I have found in Missouri during this time frame.
There are other Alexander Blairs that fit in if we go back another generation or two.For instance there is an Alexander Blair that is in Morgan Co. Ill. in 1830 that I am fairly certain fits in but I'm not sure how yet.
Hope something here gives you a clue that will help you.If you find a link to our branch I'd sure like to know.Good luck in your search.
Don
