I would say we definately have a connection. Before I forget I can be emailed at [email protected] (the bearblain thing is my dog Bear's website). I am so pleased you were still around as the post went back to February. I copied and pasted one of yours in an email to my sister who got excited. Modeste was my GGfather. My dad passed in 1999. I am in Cleveland Ohio. Since dads father Elzard Joseph Blain died when dad was three years old it's hard to work from. Dad also frequently spoke of the American Indian connection and I am guessing the connection may have been with Tallerie (Couchon) the wife of Modeste and my Great Grandmother but am unsure. The certificate of Baptism I have my sister scanned and sent me. The certificate list Modeste and Tallerie as the parents of Elzard, however the Certificate says Joseph Elzard and not Elzard Joseph Blain. Dad always said his fathers name was Elzard. If you email me I will be happy to send the pic of the certificate. I will be seeing my sisters, brother and my mom over Christmas and I know this will all be a subject of discussion. My sister Jacqueline has most of the info and is working on a tree. Interesting also is that back in 1970 or so as a young Marine I was stationed in NC and ran accross an Edward Blain with the French Canadian connection. Dad seemed to think he was a cousin of his. I don't know. Please feel free to email me and I will also hook you up with my sister Jackie who is much more knowlegable than I am. I also found a Blain sort of forum at www.blain.org but that was only yesterday. I remember dad had an aunt Irene but I don't know if she was on the Blain side or my grandmothers side. My grandmother was Elouise (Boushwa I can't spell the French names). I know grandma was French Canadian. I will try to get more info, remember I got here by accident while looking for Blain Square. Thank you so much for responding. This gets really interesting.
