For what it's worth, I came across this excerpt from John Fremont Stringer's (1856-1952)account of his family history written in March 1936. Evidently his grandpa Isaac Blades had a beard.
Except where noted, this is transcribed exactly as he wrote it, so it tends to ramble a bit. Perhaps, you'll find some connections.
In referencing his grandmother Anna Blades Stringer (wife of William Stringer) he wrote:
"Grandmother was the daughter of Isaac and Elizabeth Blades of Indiana. She had two brothers and some sisters. John Bradford married one of her sisters, Fletcher Peel married another and one married a man by the name of (Thomas) Madison, the father of Ira Madison. John Bradford was the father of John Herod Bradford of Indiana who married a cousin of mine (Margaret Carnes) in 1872.
Grandmother's brothers were John and Isaac Blades of Indiana. My great grandfather Isaac Blades married Miss Elizabeth Higgs of South Carolina. She had a brother Truman Higgs.
Elizabeth (Higgs) Blades died in the year 1834 six miles north of Elizabethtown, Bartholomew Co., Ind....
...My great grandfather Isaac Blades (note: yes this is Elizabeth Higgs husband) had two sons and six daughters named in order of their births: John, Isaac, Sally, Anna (my grandmother), Cathern, Mary, Matilda and Elizabeth.
Granddadie Blades lived with William and Anna Stringer after Elizabeth died. He died at the homestead in February 1866 at the age of 85 years. He was buried in the family grave yard, White Creek (note: this would be the Stringer family grave yard).
I can remember Granddadie Blades for when I was a small child he would beard me as he called it, rubbing his face against mine."
