Hi Shana,
My name is Paul Williams, my great great grandfather was John Blades, born in Dent, Yorkshire in 1850. The family name is abundant in the villages and hamlets called variously Blades, Bladeses, Blades farm, and so on within Wensleydale. The area is specifcally mentioned in the Domesday book of the 11th century as being settled by the fist viking settlers in England, and I suspect that the name Blades came from the weaponry, or the craft of making blades. The Blades fami;y of Yorkshire can be traced back to the landed Lords of Wensleydale, to labourers and miners. I hope to connect my line to the Blades who emigrated to the USA, before it was the USA !
I am English, but presently living in the Netherlands. Please feel free to contact me, or put Blades geneologists in touch with me if you wish.

Best wishes Paul
