AGNES ROCKHOLD BLADES was born in Illinois, March 9, l839, and died at her daughter's home in Van Wert, Iowa, February l3, l920, aged 80 years, ll months and 4 days. When five years old she came with her parents to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where she resided until her marriage to W.J. BLADES on the l6th day of March, l865, when she came at once to the farm southwest of Van Wert, Iowa, where she lived until the death of her husband which occurred September 25th, l9l2. She then moved with her daughter to Van Wert where she has since resided.
At the age of l6 she gave her life to the Savior and united with the M.E. Church. She never wavered in her faith, and through all the years, she faithfully discharged her duties as a Christian, as she came to know them. She was the mother of five children. The third child, HELEN MARIE, died in l876, when only four years of age. The others, ERNEST ELMER BLADES, of Indianola, Iowa; and MRS. DR. PHELPS, CLYDE and BEATRICE BLADES, all of Van Wert, are left to mourn today. All who knew MRS. BLADES loved her. She had a cheerful, kindly disposition. Her hand was ever extended to help those in need. Christian Faith bids us think of her today as having already heard the Master's call. "Well done, thou faithful servant. Come up higher."
Funeral services conducted by her Pastor, J.A. Bronson, February l5, at 2:30 p.m., at the home of her daughter, MRS. DR. PHELPS. Interment was in the Van Wert Cemetery.
