James Blackwood, prisoner, Joseph, his son

I am descended from William Anderson Blackwell (b 1809 Fayette Co, KY), who was the g-grandson of James Blackwood, who was born in Scotland and was brought to Virginia in 1716 as an indentured political prisoner.

The intervening generations are Joseph Blackwell, spouse unknown, who moved from VA to KY. His son, also Joseph Blackwell m. Sarah (Salley) McCroskey in 1807 Fayette Co, KY. He (the second Joseph) was said to have "never returned from the War of 1812" but my posting on that forum got the response that there's no evidence he died at war.

Any info about either Joseph Blackwood or their mothers would be greatly appreciated!
