Blackwoods in the Caribbean

I've always wanted to know where my ancestors came from because we are the only one in the U.S. Virgin Islands with this last name. My mother is Lorene Elizabeth Blackwood. She is one of 7 children of Wilmot Oleander Blackwood, SR. and Ophelia Prince Blackwood. He was born on Sept. 22, 1911 and died October 1964. His father was named Otis Blackwood (some of us think it was Ortiz not Otis). It is believed that Otis came from Ireland but there is also confusion about him being from England. If there is any additional information about this, please let me know. My mother also has knowledge about her aunts and uncles some of who migrated to South America.
