Immigration of Jacob BLACKWELDER

Would like info on the immigration of BLACKWELDERS into the U.S. during the late 1700s - mid-1800s. Have confirmed the presence of Jacob and Elizabeth Suther BLACKWELDER in Cabarrus Co. N.C. in early 1800s but have never found his connection to the Cabarrus BLACKWELDERS. Please see my 10/9/98 post re: Jacob. Misplaced info now found seems to confirm that Jacob was the son of an Isaac Blackwelder from Ireland (still not sure about Ireland, Germany, yes, but Ireland?) who never came to America. Obviously, this is not the Cabarrus Isaac. Any suggestions re: researching his immigration? This is my first shot at it. Thanks. Paul
