For the first time in over a year, I've completely updated the listing of descendants of John Blackwelder and Elisabeth Maushardt on my web site at http://arslanmb.org/blackwelder/blackwelder.html. This includes all descendants of this couple in my database through the first six generations of descent. Most of my research has been along the male lines (surnamed Blackwelder), but there is a bit on the female lines, too.
The census listings include all known occurrences of the surname Blackwelder in the US federal censuses from 1790 through 1930 (abstracted by Greg Matthews, myself, and others). If you know of any we've missed, please send me or Greg a note.
I've added a map (from http://hamrick.com/names/) showing the distribution of the Blackwelder surname, graphically, at the time of the 1990 census.
I am also beginning to piece together the Blackwelder family groups of African ancestry. It is very tentative at this point.
Again, we're looking for any additional primary sources of information on the Blackwelder families (Bible abstractions, vital records, deeds, censuses, military records, etc.)
