I am searching for information regarding the family of James Henry Blackstone. He was born in 1836 (or 1835) in South Carolina. He died on March 30, 1886 in Richwoods Township, Lonoke County, Arkansas. Obituary lists his surname as "Blackston." He was a Confederate soldier serving in the light cavalry, and then transferring to the heavy artillery. The cannon fire caused him to become deaf. He was run over by a train, because he did not hear it coming. He was married to Mary Lydia Robertson in Arkansas. We believe that his father was from Vermont and that his mother was from South Carolina. Mary Lydia Robertson was born 1837 (or 1836) in Fulton County, Georgia, and died on August 15, 1886 in Cross County, Arkansas. We believe that her father was from South Carolina and that her mother was from Georgia. There were four children of this marriage. John A. Blackstone - Died at an early age. James Henry Blackstone, Jr. - Born 1858 (or 1857) in Arkansas. Died 1879 in Arkansas. Cause of death - Kicked in stomach by a mule when he was 21 years old. Martha Isabelle Blackstone - Born 1871 (or 1870) in Arkansas. Died October 1886 in Arkansas. Cause of death - measles. William Robert Blackstone - Born January 6, 1873 in Cross County, Arkansas. Died June 8, 1951 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. Orphaned at an early age and raised by the Mitchell family. Came to Texas to work on construction of Texas State Capitol Building. Married Martha Lena Henninger, daughter of John Jacob Henninger and Isabella Elizabeth Schmidt, on March 15, 1903 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. I have extensive information regarding the descendants of William Robert Blackstone and Martha Lena Henninger.
