John, Sarah or Maria Blackmore who came to NZ in the 1800s
I am looking for any information regarding a John, Sarah or Maria Blackmore who came to New Zealand in the 1800s?
My Great Grandmother was Maria Blackmore, born in 1834 or 1835, in Ireland (or maybe Bristol, England), and died 9 Sept. 1919 aged 84, in Auckland, New Zealand.
I have found that a Sarah and Maria Blackmore came to New Zealand onboard the ship Belgravia, arriving in Auckland on 10 May 1865.
From their wedding certificate, my Great Grandfather, John Shortt (1830-1905), born in County Tipperary, Ireland, married Maria Blackmore on the 20 Feb. 1866 at Elliots Point, (Henderson?), Auckland, NZ. The signature as the witness on the wedding certificate is a John Blackmore.
John & Maria Shortt settled in Mangere Bridge, Auckland and had seven children:- Marianne, Edward, Richard, George, Emma, Harry and Harriet.
Do you have a John, Sarah or Maria in your Blackmore family tree who came to NZ in the 1800s?
