I wrote a very long letter in response to your message but AOL/geneforum dumped me.
Let me just say thank you for the wedding announcement and honeymoon details. I didn't have that article They fit what we know about the family...War of 1812 at Fort McHenry, probably Gettysburg, family in western PA, etc.
What we still don't know is how the widower with children, George Moore, in IL, met the spinster hat maker Carrie Blackmer in Fairfield CT. and married her.
The word "Success!" at the end of the announcement reinforces our thoughts that she was a mail order bride.
Oh, Carrie was killed by a train in 1928. She was a hoarder and was collecting coal while allowing mice to eat money, uncashed insurance checks, etc. That was an interesting article, too. She does have some lovely descendants, however.
