Blackmers-Michigan (through Canada 1800s

I am starting to trace my mother's Blackmer
line. It may have come through Canada
from Scotland. (Grandfather was Scot-Irish, black hair and stout.)The farthest back
I've been able to get is that his father
married an Elizabeth Burke. there seemed to have been a lot of Blackmers and similar spellings in old Bay County. I'm interested
in anything helpful. thank you.
