I'm trying to trace my Shawnee heritage. I am linked to other Blackhoof Descendants
and wonder if anyone can help with some info. all info appreciated.
Blackhoof was chief of the Shawnee Tribe in Ohio til about 1831 when he passed.
He signed a treaty ceding the Ohio lands to the U.S. Government and there for the
tribe was removed to Kansas Indian Territory between 1829 and 1831. A Blackhoof
family was one of 70 families relocated to this territory. I have read histories of
Kansas that said there was a Chief Thomas Blackhoof in Kansas and there is also a
City of Kansas named for his wife, Na-Nex-Se (various spellings). The name of this
city is called Lenexa. It is located in Johnson Co, Kansas. On the outskirts of Kansas
If anyone could help with this I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance
