JC,
WOW!Thanks for your generosity!
I was doing research for some friends who are related to the Mary Blackerby I inquired after on this forum and having passed on what I found,I had forgotten this post.
I'll share this wealth of stats and have them see if they can assimulate it into what I've already found.
Just as an aside, like yourself, when I'm looking for someone,I always go to Rootsweb in order to either jump start my quest or use the source materials used to re-research ( is there such a word?)the people I'm looking for.
I'd recommend it as well, yet cautioning new gen researchers who might stumble on this post,to take what they find there (and other online databases, outside of census records and searchable documents) in the context that, unless you've done your own research( or prepared to do your own OR have established a trust with specific online researchers) all entries are to be taken with the proverbial"grain of salt".I'm a real old fashioned stick in the mud kind of researcher;which probably is a bore to some who want quick answers.Genealogy never has been or ever SHOULD be a microwaveable activity.I've discovered too much misinformation about my own immediate family online so I guess that makes me a bit jaded ( plus on my paternal side I'm an 11th generation Yankee and we tend to be ( with the usually exceptions expected) shall I say "cautious"?( tongue in check self-dep humor)at best.I must note that my husband and I both have the luxury of living in New England where most of our ancestor's had the presentiment of mind to accommodate us to live and stayed put;so it's easy to be a bit "fussy"when it comes to substance as we have access to many 17th,18th,19th and 20th century records.
REALLY appreciate your reading my posting history and trying to help me tie up lose ends.
Elizabeth
