I am researching the Blacker family. I do not have much information to go on though except this:
1. My grandfathers name was Mendel (Max) Blacker, born in Burazan, Russia in 1882 who married Ida (Smith?) from Chesti, Russia. Her family disowned her pretty much because she married out of the family. She had a sister Olga who married a Joseph Smith residing in Schenectady NY
2. My grandfather told stories that his family was from Riga and were tailors. I have been unable to find information related to the family in Burazan or Chesti
3. My grandfather came to the US in 1910 and brought the rest of the family in 1911. There were several children Hendrick who died in Europe, Peter, Rose, Willian, Nate, Francis. Max resided for many years in Glens Falls NY owning a tailor shop and dry cleaning business before moving back to Schenectady. Prior to moving to Glens Falls the family resided in the Amsterdam NY area where they had a dairy farm.
4. My grandfather entered the US according to his application for citizenship at Boston MA, and at one time there was family contact with others in Boston who were family members. However for some reason the two families had cut all ties while I was a young child.
Since the older generations are now passed away any information that may lead to finding family members would be greatly appreciated.
