Fight and flight story

Does anyone have a 'family story' of a knife fight or shooting happening and the Blacker family leaving 'in the middle of the night' to another state? I have run across four seperate 'stories' of nearly the same happenings from four very seperate Blacker family groups. (mine included) This is a curious 'legend'. Please share yours if you have one or if you have heard of one.
