I have 26 Blackbells in my family tree dating back to my great great great grandfather, Walter Blackbell. Many of them came from Longformacus in particular but all were from Berwickshire. The name has appeared in the many forms Blackbull, Blackball etc and on my great great grandmother's death certificate as Blaigbie (I suspect that's how it sounded to the person writing the information down!)
