Abilene Reporter News Abilene, Texas May 20, 1928 JACK BLACK Mr. and Mrs. W. H. ACKERS and Mr. and Mrs. R. L. MCFALL of Abilene will go to Breckenridge this morning to attend the funeral of their brother, JACK BLACK, 48, who died a week ago at his home in Pumona, California. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. ACKERS went to Breckenridge Saturday to be with Mr. Black’s widow and other relatives, preceding the funeral. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. J. B. STOKER of Upland, California and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. CURRY of Pomona, California, who arrived in Abilene Friday. Mrs. Stoker is a sister and Mrs. Curry a cousin of Mr. Black. Mr. Black’s widow, her daughter Mrs. BILL JOHNSON of Breckenridge, and her two young sons, HENRY and BILL BLACK, have been at Breckenridge since Friday. The body of Mr. Black, escorted by his brother, WILL BLACK of Fort Worth, and Mr. Johnson, arrived in Breckenridge Friday. The funeral will be held from the First Christian Church this afternoon at 2:oo with Rev. S. J. SHETTLESWORTH, pastor, and Rev. RANDOLPH CLARK of Eastland, pioneer Christian minister and one of the founders of Texas Christian University at Fort Worth, conducting the service. Burial will be in the Breckenridge cemetery. As a student in the Add-Ran College at Thorp Spring, Texas, the institution which later became Texas Christian University, Mr. Black lived in the home of Rev. RANDOLPH CLARK and a close friendship, which has been cherished between the intervening years, developed between them. Mr. Black was a pioneer resident of Breckenridge, having lived here until six years ago when he moved to Pomona. For many years he was the president of the First National Bank of Breckenridge. Besides the relatives named, Mr. Black is survived by a sister, Mrs. W. C. VEAL, and a brother, JOHN BLACK, both of Breckenridge. Notify Administrator about this message?
