Btrieve error in BK5

Since immediately after installing another program I have not been able to get Brother's Keeper to access my data files. I get an error message saying "Could not load Btrieve with WBTRCALL.DLL error=2003", followed by a lot of other error messages relating to specific data files. Using BTRHelp to rebuild my data files does not help. (Besides, I have several different data subdirectories and don't believe they could all have suddenly gotten damaged.) I already have Local=Y in BTI.INI.

The new software I installed also uses Btrieve. I find that I currently have a Btrieve application file dated 5/22/91 in the BK5 directory, Btrieve TRN files dated 3/4/96 in BK5 and in two directories of the new program (but none in Windows\Sys), and copies of WBTRCALL.DLL dated 3/4/96 in BK5, the new program, and Windows\Sys. Could some of these multiple copies be interfering with others? Could the 5/22/91 file be incompatible with the 3/4/96 files?

I am going a little batty without access to my genealogy data and could really use some help on what is obviously a very technical matter.

Cory Panshin
