Errors moving data to new computer
Hello there:
I just bought a used (in excellent condition) laptop computer so I can finally take my Brother's Keeper database with me when I travel.
However, my database is quite large (more than 98,000 persons) and so to copy it from my desktop computer to my "new" laptop, I had to make a GEDCOM file of the entire database, then use pkzip to zip it onto 3 disks for transfer.
When I "unzipped" the gedcom file, that worked fine, but now I get Btrieve errors, stat=3 errors when I try to import the resulting gedcom file.
I have tried BTRhelp18, but still can't get it to work.Latest error, after last attempt with BTRhelp says "Subscript out of range in module GED521 at address 2830:7459".
I have absolutely no idea what that means or what I'm supposed to do about it.
So far the only thing I can think of to do is connect my laptop to my desktop computer via a null-modem cable and send all the ".dt5" files from one to the other that way.
Any other suggestions?
(PS: my used laptop is more powerful, and has a bigger hard drive than my first computer on which I used Brother's Keeper successfully for a number of years.)
