If you put the details on the 'Census Family' it will be copied to the spouse, but it doesn't copy to the children.
I add census date and location to the relevant children, then in the notes just put "at home with parents". You could copy and paste the whole transcription into the notes of every child, but if you opt to print notes on a family tree, you get the same stuff repeated over and over.
