Where are internal text files kept?

Hello, I created an 'Event' from the drop down list, then spent ages typing all the details of a marriage bond into the 'notes' field. I saved it as an 'Internal' file. Then I realized I should have chosen 'Marriage Bond' from the list instead, so I changed it. All my typing dissapeared! I tried clicking 'Cancel recent changes' but that didn't work. Where has it gone? Does anyone know how I can get it back?
