The Bizzell Book states:
Julia H. Bizzell, daughter of Samuel and Mary Jernigan, was born 1833 in JOhnston Co., NCAt the 1850 Johnston census, she was listed with her parents. Married Blake Barfield who was born 1826. Julia was listed in the settlement of her father's estate16 March 1872 in Johnston Co.Children:
Cicero born 1865, Armathea born 1867, Repsey born 1869, Julia born 1870, John born 1872 and Robert born 1874.Apparently Julia died before the 1880 census because Blake and the children were then living in Bentonville, Johnston Co.
Samuel Bizzell, son of James and Mary Bowden, was born 1797 in Duplin Co., NCMarried in 1824 to Mary (Polly) Jernigan in Duplin who was born 1804, the daughter of Joseph Jernigan. She had a sister Sarah who married William "Henry" Bizzell.They settled in Johnston Co. ca 1824.Samuel was listed in the 1830 Johnston census with 3 white males under 5 and 9 slaves.At the 1840 Johnston census, he listed 2 white male 10-15, 2 white males 5-10, his wife 30-40, 2 white female 5-10, 1 white female under 5 and 16 slaves,Seven were engaged in agriculture.At the 1850 Johnston census, Samuel reported himself as 53 and wife Polly as 46.Children then with them were: William born 1825, Henry S. born 1827, Julia born 1833, Emily born 1835, Mary E.W. born 1837 and Hannibal N. born 1847.Beginningin 1827, Samuel was a farmer of considerable means and Hannibal N. was the only person listed with him. In a will filed 1867 in Duplin Co.,Samuel listed his heirs as: Mrs. Emily Woodall, Hanniabl Newton Bizzell, Mrs. Julia Barefield, Henry Bizzell (insane) and Mrs. Mary E. Lawrence.At the 1870 Johnstson census, Samuel was living with Hannibal's family in Bentonville, Johnston Co.He died in 1871.

James Bizzell, son of William and Hannah, was born ca 1760, in Nansemond Co., VA.Moved with his parents to Edgecombe Co., NC in 1763 and on to Duplin Co., NC in 1772.
Served in the adjoining Bladen Co. State Militia during the War for Independence and probably saw action in the battle of Tory Hole, Elizabethtown, NC Aug 1781.Married 9 Jan. 1781 to Mary Bowden in Duplin Co. Listed in a special NC census of Duplin Co., 1784-87.
