Leslie,
I like your idea that "Sebern/Seaborn" might be a middle name. I rechecked the 1812 Tax List for St. Tammany Parish online to see if it listed children. It did.It listed 1 adult male, 1 adult female, and 4 children. That makes a good probability that Sebern/Seaborn could be a middle name since he was b. in 1810.I have never found anything on James the son of James and Elizabeth. I do think he was called Seaborn, vs. James as that is the name used in the 1840 census, his pension application, as well as, that being a name Winnie gave one of her sons.
After finding the pension information, I did trying searching for Seaborn in the 1870-1880 Census and could not find him in Robertson Co., The person taking the depostition said he was well acquainted with him and he was a respected member of the community. I tried various spellings, but could not find anything.
It would be nice to find a grave for James Bivins who died in St. Tammany Parish.I have visited the property on the Bogue Chitto where James and Elizabeth lived. The owner at that time had the orginal parchment deed to the property. There was no marked grave on the land.
Thanks,
Kitty
