My Gr Father was Jim (James?) Bivens. All that we know is that he came to Indian territory from Ft Smith Ar area around 1900 and became a Baptist Preacher. My mother tells the story that her Father did not go in the service during WW1, but his brother did. When his brother was discharged, his discharge papers said that his name was "Bevens". Her Family Bible spells it Bivens.

If any thing rings a bell, We would appreciate all input. We do not know Jim's parents or even the brother said to have had name changed. I do know that there were some Bevens around Calvin Oklahoma who professed to be kin to the Bivens's.
