Father Adopted into the Bissett Family

Hello - I'm Elizabeth Bissett and I hope that one of you can help me. My father (Bernard Gene Bissett) was adopted from somewhere in Oklahoma into the Bissett family sometime during the 1920's. The Bissetts lived in Texas (Long, Texas - I think). His adopted parents were John Tillman Bissett and Hattie Mae (I think) Bissett. From what my mother told me, John Tillman was a minister. I am currently living in the Czech Republic and all my detailed information is in storage in the states. Unfortunately I can only post my vague recollections. Sorry.
My parents have both passed away now and though I have tried to find info about my father over the years - the need as gotten stronger now. What I would really like to find out if anyone out there (after all this time) has any
information about the adoption. I'd really like to know what nationality I am someday - make sure I don't accidentally marry my cousin, you know. I have tried many times and many different ways to get info about the adoption but of course all the papers were destroyed in a court house fire. My mother told me that the Bissett's had other children but my father told me he was the only one. Curious. My father always told me he had some sort of documentation and promised for years to find it and send it to me. After his death - my brother threw everything away. That's my story - let me know if anyone out there can help from this small and strange amount of information.
Thanks
Elizabeth Bissett
