David Bissell Susquehanna Co, PA

I previously posted a request from a poster about their David Bissell line, but never heard anything back.

We thought we had nailed our Bissell family line, only to be blindsided by some new info on the Bissell YDNA database that indicates my brother is more closely related to another line of Bissells.

Previously, we had suspected that our ggg grandfather Bissell ? ....had married a girl named Lois Beebe (total speculation based on family naming patterns. We expected to find a William Bissell marrying Lois Beebe. Instead, a marriage from 1814 Susquehanna Co, PA, showed a Lois Beebe did marry...but to a David Bissell.

We rationalized away the name problem, saying that David had a known brother, William, and the editor probably was confused and thought that he'd been given the wrong brother's name for the paper insert. (that William was way too young to marry, but David was not).

Now, due to the YDNA data, it appears that the marriage of this Lois Beebe WAS to David Bissell. If that is the case, the marriage was never mentioned in any of that family's history we've seen. If this is the right couple, then they had two children (girl b 1815 and boy b. approx 1817) who we know had ties to Wilkes Barre, Luzerne Co, PA. In 1820, those two are not in David's household...but a boy and girl the right age range do show up in what would have been their Beebe grandparents' home.

Of course, David Bissell would not have been able to take care of the two small children, one no more than a baby or toddler at best, so it would have been understandable for the maternal grandparents to take in the kids. David Bissell married a Hepsabeth Reynolds early 1820s and had more kids.

The Beebes left PA for Huron Co in the late 1820s for Huron Co, Ohio and eventually to Cass and Kalamazoo Counties,Michigan, and some on west to Rock Island Co, IL.

If there are ANY descendants of this David Bissell out there or anyone who might have some info about this marriage of David and Lois, please contact me. We aren't ready to ditch all of our old research connecting to the William Bissell (John Partridge Bissell father) family line, but we just want to find out the real facts. DNA is science and as such, we can't just disregard it.
