Diane,
I'm writing here on a hunch. My g-g grandmother, Mary, whose name has been spelled Bease and Bliss, moved to NY from Somerset, England around 1832 with her husband, Clark Card.I find no records on the name Bliss or Bease at the Bruton Parish, where the family had been living. However, I find several marriage records on the Biss family, and I imagine there are birth records as well.Given the fact that your family pronounces the name "Biz," I'm wondering if the name "Bease" isn't an Americanized spelling of the name "Biss."That happened a lot, I'm told.I have no information yet on her parents, and I'm hoping researching the name Biss will produce them.Do you know anything of Biss relatives in Bruton, Somerset?
