Thanks. The three Mr. Bishops whose DNA is a "good match" to the DNA results for me and my Davidson family have the haplogroup of I1 (which indicates what is commonly called a "Viking heritage").I see that those three donors are grouped together in the "y-results" section of the public website at:
www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/bishop/
We do not know, however, if the "original Bishop family" from which their surname came is also represented by any DNA donors. The "biological connection" between the Davidsons and the Bishops could have "happened" on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, versus here in America, per a "clue"....but we continue to look for the "who/when/where" of that "event."My known "early" Davidsons in the "DNA matching family," however, were in James City Co., VA by at least 1682.
Note: I just learned that there is actually a fourth Mr. Bishop whose DNA also matches my DNA.That male DNA door used Ancestry.com versus FTDNA for his testing company, but he (actually his daughter) plans to have the results transferred into the FTDNA database (per the relatively new offering from FTDNA, where such donors can have their results "tweaked" to match the FTDNA "protocol," to the extent possible, and then those results will be added to the FTDNA database....all for $19).
