Charles Sr. aka Stephen Bish/IA/1824/
I am looking for any information on Stephen/Steven/Charles Sr. Bish.He was married to my Great-Great-Great Grandmother Mary Anne Augustine. They were married sometime before the 1860 census in Grand River Twnship, Adair County, Iowa. They had two children together...1.Charles Bish Jr. b.7/5/1861 and Eliza Bish.
I am quite confused about the names. In the census, it is Stephen yet on Mary Anne Augustine's tombstone it lists her children with C.Sr.Bish.So I am thinking his name was in fact Charles (especially since there was a Charles Jr.), but he was known as Stephen (or Steven, as I have seen it spelled that way also.)
Stephen (that's what I will call him...lol.)is listed in the Adair County history book as joining the military and dying in battle in Arkansaw, during I believe the civil war. After Mary was widowed, she married my Great-Great-Great Grandfather Henry Vandewater.
In most of the family records I find, there are no names listed for Stephen Bish's family.Well they are still blood relatives of Mary Anne Augustine, so I would very much like to find them.
If any one has any leads, please contact me!
Thanks,Nicole
