Elisha Bisbey/Besbeech versus supposed father Thomas
I see a lot of folks in their family tree making Thomas Besbeech of England and Massachusetts the father of Elisha Bisbey/Besbeech/Bisbee of Duxbury/Marshfield. I still cannot get a straight answer from those I contact about what source made this connection but everyone seems to think its ok to make Thomas the father of Elisha without any proof or valid record.
Thomas ship list record does not list Elisha with his family nor does Thomas Will list Elisha in it. Strange to leave out a son.. can happen but then again how did everyone prove this connection without a record showing a father/son relationship.
Also from good genealogy researchers like Robert Charles Anderson. Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-33, his research on Thomas Besbeech.. he states "An "Elisha Beesbeach" appears at Scituate in 1642 [PCR2:45, 167, 168], and had a full life in that town; the surname is later more commonly Bisbee or Bisbey. He has frequently been included as a son of Thomas Bisbeech. The will of Thomas Besbeech and the chronology make this impossible."
So I challenge anyone that has this connection in their tree to come forth with the record that proves Thomas is the father of Elisha or remove it from your trees.. Be good genealogists. I'm hoping someone does come forth with that record to get us back to England where Elisha was born.
