Thanks for the reply. I know your frustration. My ancestor, Ancil R. Birt (also Ansel and Arnell) was born in NY in 1826, but it's as if he was hatched under a rock. The censuses are obviously flawed, not only because the reporter's handwriting is so difficult to read, but they put down incorrect information. The Birts in each census seem to be new ones and the old ones in previous reports have disappeared. If I run onto anything about Isaac, I'll let you know. I live near the LDS Family History Library in Salt Lake City. If I can I'll see what I can find there for you.
